MEET THE DISTILLERS: Ryan Lang Co-founder & Head Distiller Middle West Spirits Columbus, OH

Middle West Spirits provides the wheat component in American Liquor Co. Vodka. Founded in 2008, Middle West is firmly rooted in the region and dedicated to their craft.  Co-founder Ryan Lang is a 4th generation distiller, going back to the early 1900’s when distilling was a way for farms to bring in extra money.

Known for their unfiltered artisanal wheat vodka, 100% of the wheat comes from the upper northwest region of Ohio. It grows in clay soil that can withstand variations in weather to produce a consistently fat wheat heavy in vanilla tones when distilled. As a believer in vodka with character, Ryan was enthusiastic about contributing to the 4-part blend of American Liquor Co. “Everyone we’re working with makes great products, so why not?” he said. 

His advice to other Makers is “be tenacious.” You’ll see in the video it’s advice he lives by.
